70 Years of Toys, An Art Tribute to Mattel—Gallery 1988 East

This past weekend marked the opening of a brand new art exhibit at the LA-based Gallery 1988 (West) in collaboration with the titans of toy-making, Mattel. Curated by illustrator Dave Perillo (aka Montygog), the show “celebrates 70 years of classic toy making in the form of paintings, prints and sculptures.” The exhibit features work from over 20 artists— including clubhouse favorites like Glen Brogan and Jason Edmiston—each paying tribute to Mattel properties like “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, M.U.S.C.L.E., Barbie,” Food Fighters, Hot Wheels and Dino Riders. Several rare Mattel toys are also on display. Here’s a few of our favorites:
