ShadowCrush

Directed by Jason Hendrich—veteran animator on projects like League of Legends and Blur Studio’s The Goon concept teaser—ShadowCrush marks a return to the days of Ralph Bakshi’s rotoscope animation. Although Hendrich used 3D models instead of live actor, the result is no less stunning (or time consuming). It’d be great to see more people experimenting with rotoscope animation these days.

Trailer Project: ET

Made in 2012 by a group of students from The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark, this “loosely inspired” trailer for E.T. reimagines the kid-friendly extraterrestrial as more frightening alien intruder while shifting the setting from Earth to a moon colony. If, or rather when, the demigods of Hollywood decide to remake this film THIS is what I want to see! You can check out even more re-imagined movie trailers here.

POLIS

Directed by Steven Ilous for PROTOTYPE, a sci-fi/action short film competition held by New Regenc Productions, POLIS follows a “young telepath [David Porter] whose search for his mother threatens to uncover a utopian society’s horrifying secrets” and boasts some pretty fantastic special effects including some killer (literally) robot drones.
