SIMPSONS PIXELS

While I’ve somewhat lost interest in The Simpsons these past few years, with exception made to the annual Treehouse of Horror episodes, I have enjoyed the creativity they’ve employed by allowing other artists take a shot at the opening credits “couch gag.” One style we haven’t seen yet, though, is pixel art so pixel artists Paul Robertson and Ivan Dixon and musician Jeremy Dower decided to make their own… and it’s glorious.

Royal Blood – Out Of The Black (Official Video)

UK-based rock duo Royal Blood is quickly becoming one of the top bands on my playlist as of late. As if I needed another reason to like these guys, they recently released a music video—directed by David Wilson & Christy Karacas—for their first single “Out of the Black” which mixes 2D animation and live action with bloody (seriously, blood and guts fly everywhere) awesome results. The video features a group of aliens in disguise battling against the “men in black.” Kudos to animator Mike Carlo and his team as well!

Every 90s Commercial Ever (Uncensored)

True to it’s title, this advertising parody for fake brand Liquid Slam’s “Big Game” line of snacks is so incredible it makes my eyes bleed (don’t worry, that happens a lot). Directed by Dez Dolly and produced by RocketJump (Video Game High School) everything about this short screams 90s—from the way it’s shot to the early CGI special effects and even the acting, it’s all perfectly executed. Thanks to Peter Morris (@pocket_wookie) for the tip!
