Some of the DVD/Blu-Ray releases this week.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – Great movie. Were there problems? Yes, I had several problems. It ran a little too long, I didn’t like where they decided to end the story and all of the made up romance between Tauriel and Kili. Everything else was great. ESPECIALLY the Smaug stuff. I plan to buy these movies on Blu-Ray but I’ll probably wait until the Extended Edition complete set comes out in a few years.
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (UNRATED) – I like found footage movies. I don’t know why they get so much s**t from everyone. I’ve seen the first two of these Paranormal Activity movies and they are pretty good. Nicely creepy. I haven’t seen any of the other movies yet. It’s weird because chronologically these movies are happening backwards. Part 2 happened before Part 1 and Part 3 happened before both of those and this spin-off movie, The Marked Ones, happens before all of that. Confusing, yes, but the first two are good. I have no reason to believe the rest aren’t.
Lizzie Borden Took an Ax – Christina Ricci in a Lizzie Borden movie? Yes, please.
Lust For Freedom (1987) – This looks like it could be as crazy-awesome as Miami Connection. Check out the trailer. And I love that Grim Reaper theme song.
