Simon Pegg Has A FANTASTIC FEAR OF EVERYTHING

Actor, comedian and self-professed nerd Simon Pegg is a busy man. When he’s not beaming aboard the USS Enterprise (Star Trek Into Darkness) or playing a petty stand-up comic with a vendetta against the mob (Mob City), he’s teasing fans about being Ant-Man in Edgar Wright’s upcoming film (hint: he’s not). Come next year he’ll also unleash his inner troll alongside Ben Kingsley and Toni Collette in LAIKA’s highly anticipated movie, The Boxtrolls, and prove just how neurotic one man can be in A Fantastic Fear of Everything – which just got a new trailer.

In the film, Pegg plays a former children’s author turned crime novelist named Jack whose “detailed research into the lives of Victorian serial killers has turned him into a paranoid wreck, persecuted by the irrational fear of being murdered.” Things get progressively worse for Jack as his mind takes a downward spiral that leads him to confront his worst fears. Oh yeah, and there’s a creepy puppet hedgehog.

From the looks of the trailer, it reminds me a bit of Michel Gondry’s work – particularly Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or The Science of Sleep. Should prove to be an interesting adventure when it’s released in theaters on February 7, 2014.

I saw this on UK television about 6 or 7 months ago and had no knowledge what it was then either. It’s a pretty great, odd little flick actually, had no idea it wasn’t on a wider release. Worth a watch though.

    • Sweet! Can’t believe it’s already been released in the UK… well, I can, but that’s just not fair. 😀
