I’ve always had a special place in my toy collection for LEGO. Despite my inability to build much of anything in my adult life (furniture, shelving, lasting relationships), I can always count on LEGOs to make me feel like I’m a freaking Michaelangelo of architecture. Even still, it’s been a few years since I’ve actually bought any new sets, but after hearing about this latest has got me all excited again. Available this week, August 1st, LEGO will be selling a fan-created kit based on the Back to the Future trilogy!
Created as part of the LEGO CUUSOO project, where fans can have their creations voted on to become official LEGO products, the Time Machine set allows you to recreate all three versions of the Delorean and includes a ton of cool features like:
the Flux Capacitor, a time display tile, the Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor, and LEGO Minifigure versions of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmet “Doc” Brown. This unique set also includes a fascinating instruction booklet containing production notes, original images and fun details from the movies.
Best of all, this set will be available in the online LEGO Shop for only $34.99 AND the fans who created the set, Masashi Togami and Minifig Builder Sakuretsu, will be donating their royalties (one percent of the total net sales) to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research!
