The State of Strange: April 23, 2013

[One of the things SKC was founded on was promoting the work of our members and I’ve really sucked at that recently. So, to make amends, I’ve decided to start The State of Strange, a new bi-weekly column dedicated to spreading the word about you – a shortlist of projects you’re working on, sites you’ve built, articles you’ve published and so on. This is your spotlight!]

Boxsome – Vintage Trading Cards

First up is BOXSOME, a site offering customizable “Nostalgia Packs” that contain vintage trading card packs, stickers and pogs (among other things). Created by Tommy Day (Tophat Sasquatch) the concept behind Boxsome is that it will eventually offer collectors an entire box of geek-themed goodies every month – freaking wicked! Also, don’t forget to subscribe to the newsletter for exclusive coupon codes.

Cult Film Club – Monthly Podcast

I know what you’re thinking (don’t drink the kool-aid!), but this is one cult that you want to join. Co-founded by Shawn Robare (Branded in the 80s), Paxton Holley (Cavalcade of Awesome) and Jamie Hood (ShezCrafti), the CULT FILM CLUB podcast adjourns once a month to celebrate a new forgotten favorite in movie history. The site also hosts intermittent articles be each of the hosts as well as the group’s recently released “No Tipping” Sticker Packs!

Lunchmeat Issue #7

Published by the cool ghoul, Josh Schafer, LUNCHMEAT is a black/white indie magazine dedicated solely to “tapeheads.” From low budget schlock films to animated classics, Lunchmeat and its crew of growing contributors celebrate everything VHS-related with an appreciation that bleeds through every page. They recently returned with Issue #7, boasting 50+ pages of analog-only reviews, an interview with character actor Eddie Deezen, and a look at… Chuck Norris vs. Communism? Mind. Blown.
