Take the visual style and platforming of Super Meat Boy, double the gaming mechanics and add a dash of H.P. Lovecraft set to the tune of dubstep and you have THEY BLEED PIXELS. An incredible-looking pixel art action game from indie developers Spooky Squid Games, They Bleed Pixels was released on Steam (PC Only) last year and has been garnering some great reviews ever since.
The story follows an unnamed girl plagued by nightmarish visions and armed with giant claws for hands. When the girl discovers a mysterious, cursed book she’s forced to face her demons head on from what looks like giant gardens to the bowels of Hell itself – very cool stuff. There’s a variety of enemies, combo moves and even a save feature. As if that was’t cool enough, the developers released 4 bonus levels based on fan submissions!
Unfortunately, being PC Only prevents me from experiencing the full experience, which is a shame, but based on the reviews I’ve seen I’m dying to check this one out. If you have a PC definitely give it a go… as for the rest of us, looks like we’ll have to wait a while longer before getting our hands drenched in the blood of pixelated hellspawn.
