By the Power of Awesome… Castle Grayskullman™ Goes on Sale this Thursday

As part of it’s 30th Anniversary this year, Mattel held a Masters of the Universe® Create a Character Contest with the promise that the winner’s concept would become an actual figure in their Matty Collector MOTU line. That winner was none other than Daniel Benedict and his concept was Castle Grayskullman, a mash-up of He-Man and Castle Grayskull that just exudes awesomeness from every micro-detailed crevice.

Now, after months of waiting, Mattel announced it will be releasing the fan figure this Thursday, November 15th at 9am PT (12 noon ET). I don’t think I’ve been this excited for an action figure to come out since Mutagen Man was introduced to Playmates’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle line back in 1990. Seriously, I can’t rationalize it, but I’ve been feeling anxious all week in hopes that they won’t sell out before I can snag one. I suppose this fake commercial that Benedict uploaded to YouTube awhile back sums it up best.

Here’s the official MOTU bio from Matty Collector’s site:

During the Second Ultimate Battleground, Hordak® and King Hssss’ grand army pressed in against the allied heroes of Eternia®. In the darkest moment of battle, all hope seemed lost as many heroes fell, including Snake Man-At-Arms® and Stratos®. Reaching out through the Orb of Power, hidden deep inside Castle Grayskull®, He-Man® and the new Sorceress® used an unrepeatable spell to call upon the Powers of Grayskull™ and infuse life into the very spirit of the castle itself. Rising from the castle’s hidden Chamber of Defense; Castle Grayskullman™ marched into battle, swinging his dual swords of power, helping to turn the tide.
