Yesterday, our friends over at Cartoon Lagoon rang in October with a post featuring several animated homages to General Mills’ Monster Cereal brand. Among the animations they featured was a never-before-seen (and unfortunately incomplete) segment from 2009 set to the “Monsters Go Disco” soundtrack, originally released on “flexi-disc” in 1979.
The segment is short – REALLY short – but its a neat glimpse at what General Mills perhaps had planned at one point. It also proves that the characters could work well in modern animation (at least a new commercial) and that we really, really need at least one Monster Cereal Halloween Special!
For more Monster Cereal videos, including the very first COUNT CHOCULA and FRANKENBERRY commercial as well as some history behind the brand, be sure to stop by the Cartoon Lagoon blog.
