Strange Kid gets a Gift Courtesy of Shawn Robare from “Branded in the 80s”


I’ve been a bad friend. No, it’s true. About a week or so ago the perpetually cool Shawn Robare from over at Branded in the 80s offered up an assortment of vintage TMNT postcards to anyone that wanted one. Of course, being the nerd that I am, I jumped at the chance– besides, how often does anyone receive an actual postcard anymore? The novelty alone had me hooked.

A few days later and “BAM!” this my postcard arrived in the postage signed and everything by Robare himself and despite my best intentions to share this with all of you I let it slip through the cracks. But no longer… behold!

I just want to say thanks to Shawn for his generosity. If you’ve never heard of Branded in the 80s, it’s definitely worth checking out. As one of the predecessors and sources of inspiration for the clubhouse, Branded continues to celebrate nostalgia in all its art forms (cartoons, advertising, trading cards, and more). Shawn also co-hosts one of THE biggest, baddest Halloween countdowns every year over at Countdown to Halloween.

    That is definitely a strange postcard. I think they tried to make it look like Shredder was pleading with Krang, but it definitely looks like he’s proposing. You just reminded me, I have to take a picture of myself with the postcard to send to Shawn. I think it would be cool if everyone sent in pics of them and the postcard they recieved. It would make for a cool post over at Branded in the 80s.
