‘Beyond Black Mesa’ brings ‘Half Life’ to Full Life in Fan-Made Film

As I said of this past weekend’s Fight the Foot trailer, it simply amazes me what independent filmmakers can create these days, and on such slim budgets! Reportedly, over the course of two years and only $1200, director Brian Curtin managed to direct and produce this stunning short film based on the Half Life franshise entitled Beyond Black Mesa that packs zombies, Civil Patrol enemies, and phenomenal stunt work into its 12 minute runtime.

The film wrapped post-production in October 2010, it debut in its entirety this past Friday which means it’s very likely to burn up the internets very soon and although there has been no official decision by the filmmaker as to whether or not they’ll be a Special Edition DVD release, the website does show what one might look like should enough fans rally together for it.
