While the delayed release of Gun Media’s Friday the 13th: The Game may have some feeling slightly tricked, the developers of the “asymmetric survival horror” game—Dead By Daylight—have a tasty treat for slasher fans this week. You could even call it a…”homecoming”.
For those unfamiliar with Dead by Daylight, it’s basically a multiplayer survival horror game in which “one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed.” Thus far the game’s Killers and procedurally generated environments have all been based on familiar slasher movies, but today’s Halloween-themed DLC release brings not one, but TWO actual horror icons into the fold—both Michael Myers and Laurie Strode will both be playable characters in the game! Naturally, the DLC features Haddonfield as a new environment. That’s pretty rad.
Oddly enough, while a few fan made games have tried to tap into the horror of Halloween over the years, this DLC only marks the second official appearance of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode in a video game (the first being Wizard Video’s awful Atari 2600 game).
Dead by Daylight is available for Windows PC via Steam.
