MADBALLS Oozes It’s Way to NYCC Thanks to Roar Comics [First Look]

They’re “freaky fun for everyone” and next week they’re coming to NYCC, courtesy of St. Louis-based publisher ROAR Comics. As reported back in July, ROAR is resurrecting the MADBALLS franchise in comic book form and they’ve got an impressive pool of talent helping them out—including original Madballs artist, James Groman!

While the regular comic won’t be out until Spring 2016 (with a brand new story by Brad McGinty with art by Brian Smith), ROAR is already oozing at the pores to share some of their madness with fans so at NYCC (Booth #1659) they’re going to release a special, limited edition MADBALLS OOZING ART WAD oversized comic and we’ve got your first look RIGHT HERE! Featuring two collectible dust jackets, each with four different cover images (so you’re guaranteed to get the cover you like) by underground artists Jimmy Giegerich, Matt Crabe, Sean Dove, Jesse Balmer, Dan Zettwoch, Scarecrowoven, Gunsho and Jenny Zych.

The 40+ interior will include comics be each of the aforementioned artists plus additional art by Charles Forsman, Ulises Farinas, Lale Westvind, and–oh yeah!—James Groman. Highlights (for me, at least) include the undeniably icky “Rise of the Slobuloids” by Gunsho, “Mad-Evil” by Sean Dove, “Gerard P. Uptite” by Jimmy Geigrich and “Ain’t That a Rat in the Head” by Matt Crabe; all of which perfectly capture the slimy, sticky, booger-spewing Madballs vibe.

…but WAIT, there’s MORE! On Friday, October 10 from 1:00-3:00pm ROAR will have Jimmy Giegerich, Matt Crabe, Sean Dove, Sacrecrowoven, Gunsho, Jenny Zych, Charles Forsman, Ulises Farinas, Lale Westvind, and James Groman signing copies of MADBALLS OOZING ART WAD plus screen prints by Gunsho and Scarecrowoven. And if that’s still not enough to satiate your sickening love of these pus-covered orbs, ROAR will host a launch party later that night at Desert Island Comics in Brooklyn from 7:00-9:00pm. I tell ya…it’s times like this I wish we had a Strange Kids Club travel budget!
