Monday Morning Videomania #146

I have no shame in admitting that I’m not a big football fan. In fact, I’m not a big sports fan in general (I like to play, just not watch), so when I see an animated show or TV series based on a sports theme it’s usually a non-starter for me. In the case of The Madden 16—a new web series promoting Madden NFL 16—I’m willing to make an exception. Why? Well, for starters, it’s got Stoopid Buddy Studios scent all over it. Add to that the creepy Thunderbirds-like puppet art direction and a cast which includes a T-Rex AND a “Robobear” and I’m pretty much sold.

The Vampire – Unforgetting

October is almost upon us! And you know what that means: Monday Morning Videomania becomes “Monday Morning Monstermania” with shorts, music videos and more dedicated solely to horror. Before we get there, though, I thought we’d ease into things with this awesome short by FROWNHOUSE. A tale of one man being assaulted by a plethora of supernatural (and super creepy) monsters. Thanks to Benjamin Hayden for the tip!

Payada Pa’ Satan

A fascinating foreign short film, Payada Pa’ Satan has a wonderfully unique look that seemingly blends “miniature faking” photography, 3D, live action and puppetry. Based on the disastrous practice of “mega mining” (widespread in Argentina), the short finds a Gaucho driven to tragic circumstances when he mistakes a local mining operation as the work of the Devil. When his wife dies as a result of the deadly chemicals being used, the Gaucho seeks his revenge…and pays the consequences.
