Super Turbo Atomic Ninja Rabbit

Bringing Up Bigfoot

Written, animated and voiced by Edward Coughlan Bringing Up Bigfoot is an incredible short film—a combination of 2D animation and claymation—that finds two hunters talking to a reporter in the woods about Bigfoot. There story takes a somewhat unexpected detour when it turns out Bigfoot is actually (SPOILERS!) an alien. Looks like all those Bigfoot and UFO conspiracy theorists were both right all along.

Super Turbo Atomic Ninja Rabbit

Super Turbo Atomic Ninja Rabbit is so chock full of references to nerd nostalgia it almost made my head explode upon first viewing. Described by Director Wesley Louis as “a love letter to Saturday morning cartoons from the 80’s and 90’s,” this fake intro/opening features nods to Thundercats, Star Fox, Bucky O’Hare, Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac and probably a dozen other shows I’m overlooking—which makes sense since Louis originally conceived the idea when he was 13. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of this show!

GUNSHIP – Tech Noir

Rounding out this week’s top picks is a new music video by animator and director Lee Hardcastle. It’s not hard to see why this particular video made this week’s top list of picks. Aside from the 80s synth soundtrack by GUNSHIP, the video includes several tributes to classic VHS era films such as Terminator, Robocop, Friday the 13th, Mad Max, Masters of the Universe, Rocky, Alien, Hellraiser and—to some extent—Videodrome.
