Sock Puppet Parody

Moonmen Music Video (Complete) feat. Fart and Morty | Rick and Morty | Adult Swim

Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon’s brand of humor may be a bit raunchy, perhaps even uncomfortable at times, but they sure do know how to keep things interesting. This music video from the episode “Mortynight Run” finds Jemaine Clement channeling his inner Tim Curry with a trippy ballad that references Marvel Comics’ Infinity Gems, Robocop, The Simpsons (Kang and Kodos), Masters of the Universe (Roboto) and more in under 3 minutes.

Game Launch Rock! – brentalfloss

Brent “brentalfloss” Black vents his frustrations over next-gen (current gen) systems like PS4 and Xbox One in this Schoolhouse Rock inspired short that finds a talking Gameboy teaching a clueless kid why it’s never a good idea to buy a console at launch. Despite being two years old now, I thought the jab at Ouya was particularly insightful in light of all the trouble it’s caused indie developers as of late.

Slipknot – Wait and Bleed (Sock Puppet Parody)

While The Muppets are currently poised for a renaissance thanks to the power magic of Disney, I can’t really say the same thing for sock puppets which really haven’t been “mainstream” since MTV’s The Sifl and Olly Show ended in the late 90s… or so I thought. Then, this weekend, I discover Sock Puppet Parody, a web series that “pays tribute to iconic bands and glorifies their undergarments” with clever parodies of songs like “Wait and Bleed,” “Basket Case,” “Push It” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
