Mean Teddies animated short

Mean Teddies

Take one dash of Care Bears and a pinch of Conan the Barbarian and what to you get? …well, I suppose that’s how Ewoks are born, but aside from that you get Mean Teddies. An animated short by Tyler Novo, Mean Teddies exposes a lone teddy bear as a savage warrior who fights to keep the nightmare creatures away from his owner, a young blonde boy. It’s actually a pretty cool premise for an animated series!

Pillywags Mansion (Pilot)

Recently dropped by Cartoon Network, this pilot for Pillywags Mansion by Sam Marin (Regular Show‘s Benson) is, in many ways, what I’d imagine a Strange Kid series would be like: a maniacal mash-up of muppe—er, puppets, and cartoons with an overall polish of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. Featuring a “crazy, reclusive” count (?) named R.J. Pillywags who’s like Pee-Wee Herman and the King of Cartoons combined… sorta.

BATTLE – Loot Crate November 2014 Theme Video (Mega Man Gritty Reboot)

A “theme video” directed by Nicolas Acosta and released by Loot Crate for their latest offering (the theme is BATTLE), this “gritty reboot” of Mega Man is actually pretty impressive. Boasting some top notch production values (for an indie short) and a unique visual style based in the “real world,” it also offers a nice surprise ending for fans of games like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. I’m not sure if they’ve done similar shorts in the past, but I have to admit that Loot Crate has definitely got my attention.
