On the Shelves: Home Video Releases for Oct 28, 2014

Some of the DVD/Blu-Ray releases for this week of Halloween 2014.

Nightbreed: The Director’s Cut (1990) – Shout! Factory continues delivering these awesome cult horror releases, this time with the director’s cut of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed. This “director’s cut” will be the very first release of the mythological “Cabal Cut” that features new scenes gathered together from several VHS releases of the film as well as footage from the studio vault and reedited by Barker himself. This particular cut clocks in at around 155 min (the theatrical cut was only 102 min). This should be something to behold for all horror fans.

Planet of the Vampires (1965) – I literally have no idea if this movie is any good. But it’s got a great title. And it’s directed by Mario Bava who is known for other awesomely named B-movies like Black Sunday, Black Sabbath, Lust of the Vampire and Hercules and the Haunted World.

Werewolf Woman (1976) – This sort of crazy psycho-sexual thriller involves a woman who believes she’s becoming a werewolf and goes out to seduce men, have sex with them and then rip their throats out with her teeth. That’s that’s a very small part of what happens in this weird movie.

WKRP In Cincinnati: The Complete Series – I loved this show growing up and I still do. Such a great ensemble show. And it holds up much better than you think it does.

Planet of the Vampires is awesome. If you like the Alien movies, you’ll be right at home!
