On the Shelves: Home Video Releases for Feb 4, 2014

Some of the DVD/Blu-Ray releases this week.

Escape Plan (2013) – Woo boy. This movie is pretty bad.  It made my Worst Movies I saw in 2013 list.  However, I’m going to say that it’s so bad that it sort of flips back around to good again.  The script and dialogue are garbage.  However, the meeting of Sly and Arnie in a movie not titled Expendables is pretty great.  I had a lot of fun with my buddy totally MST-ing it up in the theater.  Definitely worth a watch to enjoy this one.

Justice League: War – This DCU animated movie is based on Geoff Johns/Jim Lee’s first story arc in the New 52 comic Justice League.  I love that first story arc, but I have no idea how well they adapted it here.  However, DCU animated has been hitting it out of the park lately.  Maybe they should be put in charge of the DC motion picture studio?

Joanie Loves Chachi: Complete Series – Holy sh*t. It’s finally happened. All of your letters, online petitions, phone calls and prayers have been answered. The entire run of Joanie Loves Chachi is being released on DVD.  I honestly never thought I’d be alive to see this day.  Cross another item off my bucket list.

Kenny Rogers – The Gambler Collection – Being a fan of westerns I have to put this here. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy them, but they are high in cheese factor but also in fun factor. This includes the first three TV movies but not the fourth or fifth movies surprisingly. It’s the fourth movie that has Reba McEntire and a revolving door of old western stars appearing as their old characters like Gene Barry as Bat Masterson, David Carradine as Caine and Chuck Conners as The Rifleman.  Fun, harmless series to watch.
