Some of the DVD/Blu-Ray releases this week.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) – I love this book series. I’ve read all 5 of the original series and I’m caught up on the newer Heroes of Olympus series.  So I was excited when The Lightning Thief movie was released back in 2010.  But I didn’t love the movie.  Part of it I think was my affection for the books overshadowed my thoughts on the film.  I really need to give that first movie another viewing before I watch this sequel.  It took them a while to get this movie out, plus, honestly, Sea of Monsters is the least interesting book of the series.  I’m not sure how this is going to turn out.

The Lone Ranger (2013) – I am a fan of the character of The Lone Ranger. I look forward to watching the movie as the trailer looks like it’s a lot of fun.  Plus, it’s a new Hollywood western, so I will always give it a shot.

Kick-Ass 2 (2013) – I thought the first movie was…meh. The best thing about it was Hit Girl and Big Daddy. But I still am not a huge fan of that first movie. So, consequently, I don’t really want to watch this, except to see a more grown up Hit Girl kicking all kinds of ass.  Oh, and to see Jim Carrey as Col Stars & Stripes.

Elysium (2013) – From Neill Blomkamp who brought us the awesome District 9.  I’m on board.  I want to see this it looks amazing.

Family (2013) – This movie intrigues me. Great cast. Check out the trailer.

Ghost Team One (2013) – This looks like it could be a stupid but funny movie, however it also has high potential to be just stupid.

The Beast Within (1982) – Stars the awesome Ronny Cox. It’s about a woman who’s raped by a swamp creature (you read that right) and gives birth to a half human half swamp creature. But the boy doesn’t show any signs until he becomes a teenager. Sounds like the perfect 80s horror movie to me.  Check out the awesome trailer.
