Oh man, this is like a Russian roulette of cinematic insanity. I seriously don’t know what’s crazier – the fact that someone actually made a feature film based on the “Epic Beard Man” viral video, that Danny Trejo starred in it or that there’s going to be a sequel… starring Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon, Predator 2).
Having premiered on IGN yesterday the trailer shows the dual Bad Asses in true 80s buddy comedy fashion, complete with terribly outdated puns (including a jab at The Expendables) and bad CGI, taking on a drug lord of some sort. I don’t really know. It seems like Grumpy Old Men meets Turner and Hooch… or 48 Hrs. I guess it can’t be worse than Cop and Half. Anyway, despite all that, or perhaps in spite of it, part of me is curious enough to see how this is going to play out. Guess we won’t have to wait long, the film is slated for a DVD release in 2014.
Since we last saw Frank, he followed his dream and opened a Community Center in East Los Angeles where he mentors young boxers, not only in the ring, but in life. When his prized student, Manny, gets in over his head with a bad crowd and winds up dead, Frank and Bernie team up, finding themselves ensnared in one life threatening predicament after another. Forced to escape using the only weapons they have – their wits and their fists – they must survive the onslaught of fury that is brought upon them and Frank’s new found love from a high powered, politically connected foe, Leandro (Andrew Divoff; “Lost”).
