On the Shelves: Home video releases for Sep 03, 2013

Some of the DVD/Blu-Ray releases this week.

Now You See Me (2013) – I’m already predisposed to love magician movies; The Prestige, The Illusionist, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, this.  I want to watch them all.  This has a great cast and I’m dying to watch it.

The Lords of Salem – I’m not entirely sold on Rob Zombie as a filmmaker yet.  I love his music, but I haven’t loved any of the movies he’s made yet.  Maybe this will turn the tide?  I don’t know.  But it looks weird.

Idle Hands (1999) – I’m actually a fan of this movie. Starring Jessica Alba, Devon Sawa and Seth Green. It’s cheesy fun. But I like most stuff Devon Sawa is in; the first Final Destination, Slackers and The Little Giants to name a few.

Sharknado (2013) – Here’s Sharknado. On Blu-Ray. For those that actually want it.  Much like Dinoshark, 2-Headed Shark Attack and Sharktopus before it, I think the ideas and posters are better than the actual movies.  But then again, we need to see Ian Ziering in more movies.

Oh “Idle Hands”…my wish for Mick and Pnub zombie figures was half granted in a “Robot Chicken” sketch…

  • If you’re not already sold on Rob Zombie, Lords of Salem probably won’t change your mind but it is an interesting flick. It’s hard to pinpoint, but there’s something there that strikes an arthouse vibe mixed with Rosemary’s Baby.
