Rhode Montijo’s ‘Halloween Kid’ Animated Special Premieres this Fall

Rhode Montijo’s ‘Halloween Kid’ Animated Special

If you ask me, there aren’t nearly enough animated specials that come out around Halloween anymore. In fact, most networks simply choose to re-air specials from previous years all October long – which is okay – but it sure is nice to get some fresh blood every once in awhile.

Based on author/artist Rhode Montijo‘s (Pablo’s Inferno) children’s book, The Halloween Kid will be a 30-minute short that features “a mysterious masked boy who goes beyond his limits to defend Halloween.” It’s currently being animated by Sanzigen (Cyborg 009) animation studio with a screenplay by Jamie Baker.

As of yet no solid release date has been announced nor has there been any mention of distribution (VOD, online, etc) but I would anticipate hearing more soon. In the meantime we have this short, but exciting, teaser trailer!

No siree, Halloween won’t be canceled anytime soon, not while the Halloween Kid’s around. With a rootin’ tootin’ Halloween monster–shootin’ text and retro-modern illustrations, The Halloween Kid will lasso in readers both young and old. Because who doesn’t love a hero who defends the right to trick-or-treat? Yee-Ha-lloween!
