Brett Bean Launches ‘Spaced Out -The Story Of Fil & Mantis’

spaced-out-teaserAnyone here remember Sega’s ToeJam & Earl from 1991? It featured a duo of “urban culture” inspired aliens who crash land on Earth and spend the rest of the game trying to get back to planet… Funkotron. Okay, so they were really 90s-era stereotypes with generic personalities but at least it was entertaining.

Enter Brett Bean, Lead Designer on Disney TV’s Slugterra, whose got an intergalactic duo of his own in the works. Fil & Mantis are the stars of Bean’s latest project, Spaced Out – The Story of Fil & Mantis, in which they inadvertently spark space adventure the finds them hunted by bounty hunters, robots and plenty of other “colorful characters.”

Only thing is, Bean needs your help in making turning his dream project into a reality:

This is my attempt to start that coveted idea of working less for others and more for a passionate ideal. The entire drawing, writing, editing, inking, coloring, designing, well, basically all aspects of its creation are done by me. I am treating it like an animated show on paper.

If you’re interested in learning more or to see how you can help support this project, be sure to stop by the Spaced Out Kickstarter page.
