On the Shelves: DVD Releases for Mar 05, 2013
Some of the DVD/Blu-Ray releases this week.
Wreck-It Ralph – I have yet to actually see this but I will as soon as I can this week. It looks to be a retro video gamer’s wet dream of a movie. I hear nothing but great things about it.
Red Dawn – This is the recent remake starring Chris Hemsworth. Not the original 80s movie with Patrick Swayze. I don’t remember this actually hitting theaters and now it’s on home video? I thought it looked good, but this doesn’t bode well, like the studio is dumping it for some reason.
Westworld – I love this movie. Written and directed by Michael Crichton, it’s a futuristic, western thriller starring Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin and James Brolin. I actually wouldn’t mind a remake of this. I heard Schwarzenegger was attached for a while, but I think Russell Crowe would be fantastic in Brynner’s role. It was followed in 1976 by the not quite as well remembered sequel, Futureworld
.
The Bay – This is one of those “found footage” style horror films. For some reason this genre gets a lot of crap from horror fans but I know I enjoy them. I find them scarier than some of the regular horror these days. Check out the trailer.
