Weird World Of Webcomics: Scott Kurtz’s Table Titans
The Weird World of Webcomics returns (this week) and this time we’ve drifted into the realm of fantasy, more specifically of Dungeons & Dragons as seen through the eyes of cartoonish Scott Kurtz.Inspired in part by Kurtz’s success on PvP, TABLE TITANS launched in January 2013 and is unique in that it is co-produced (in a sense) by Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast who have provided Kurtz use of actual D&D products in the comic.
Marketing ploys aside, the comic follows “the real and imagined adventures of friends, Andrew, Alan, and Valeria, in their struggle to become the world’s most legendary D&D gaming group.” While the quieter, “real” moments are funny in their own way where Table Titans really becomes enjoyable are the “imagined adventures.” Characters battle evil monsters, transform into bone-filled blobs and, admittedly, fall victim to their own inherent nerdiness. You can play along with the Titans gang every Tuesday & Thursday at www.tabletitans.com.
