Toy Fair 2013: Playmates Reveal New Bebop & Rocksteady Figures
Last month we mentioned that Playmates would be adding two new figures to their TMNT Classics toy line – based on the original TV series – and I’m excited to say that photos of the new figures have finally begun floating around the web thanks to Toy Fair 2013 news coverage. Fan reaction to the reveal seems to be split, with some (myself included) excited by the return of Shredder’s mutated flunkies while others criticizing the creative liberties Playmates has taken with the new sculpts.
Truth by told, the critics make some good points. Infinite Hollywood even posted a fan made composite that takes elements from both the new figures’ the original figures and I have to admit it makes a convincing argument for Playmates going a little overboard. Either way, it’ll be nice to have duo back on store shelves – I’ll definitely be picking up both figures – but it would’ve been nice to have had more of a “classics” feel to them.
Will you be adding these to your TMNT collection, or are they just too different?
