EVIL DEAD Red Band Trailer Promises Plenty of Blood, Serious Scares [NSFW]

Last night, TriStar and the rest of the marketing juggernaut for the forthcoming Evil Dead remake released the full red band trailer of the film. Along with it, a new “interactive” experience called Dare to Share Your Scare entices viewers to watch the trailer and record their reaction to share with friends.

I shared my initial thoughts of the Evil Dead remake when the teaser trailer dropped back in October and despite the full trailer I’m still a little skeptical of the whole thing. Granted, the movie looks pretty slick and director Fede Alvarez has already admitted to it being a more serious take on the story, but still. It’s not the Evil Dead I know and love, which is a shame because a whole new generation of fans will grow up with the wrong perception of what made the original so great.

What do you think, does the new trailer impress? Or does it miss the mark completely?

It was sufficiently creepy. But I’m worried that it’s one of those horror trailers that reveals too much. The very last shot, for example, lingers way too long. Hope all the scariest parts weren’t just given away.

That’s a good point. There’s even a buttload of stills from the trailer that reveal even more information floating around. It’d be nice to still have a few surprises left by the time it hits theaters.
