Kyle Roberts Recreates Classic ‘X-Men’ Cartoon Intro in Stop Motion
Back in March of this year we spotlighted an awesome TMNT stop motion short by indie director Kyle Roberts. Now Roberts is back and he (along with his crew at Reckless Abandonment Pictures) has broken out a new set of action figures for his latest stop motion tribute, this time in celebration of the X-Men Animated Series 20th Anniversary!
Released yesterday, the new short is once again sponsored by the Toy and Action Figure Museum and took roughly two months to create with over 4,000 photos and more than 60 hand drawn images by Art Director Nathan Poppe. Colin Nance and Zach Zellar rounded things out with their recreation of the X-Men theme song.
“I absolutely loved working on the project,” says Roberts. “To be able to work on something this long… you’ve gotta love it! I hope it brings back some good memories for the viewers and they enjoy it as much as we did creating it!”

IN THIS ISSUE: Strange Kid runs amok in 80s/90s TV series! Jason Edmiston, Matthew Allison, Drew Rausch, David DeGrand, Brent Engstrom...

Awesome! But man, that had to have taken so much time…
I wish I could remember half of the scenarios that I used to come up with as a kid for my action figures, they’d make for some epic stop motion videos!
