Sony Delivers an Early ‘Treat’ for Halloween – EVIL DEAD Red Band Trailer! (NSFW)
While I’m still on the fence regarding the necessity of an EVIL DEAD remake, I can’t deny that this red band trailer – which was first shown to fans at NYCC – has got me salivating for more. Director Fede Alvarez has seemingly stripped the franchise of its trademark humor, replacing it with an full frontal assault of nastiness that gives that film a pretty brutal and bleak tone.
I can only equate what you’re about to see as watching The Exorcist in the woods while doing some form (or a combination) of mind-altering drug. There’s also a sense that Alvarez, who’s only other credits thus far include short films, is a fan of (the original) Night of the Demons and that’s a plus in my book.

It’s a bit annoying that the Evil Dead 4 seems to have been completely jettisoned!
I agree. I think they were probably at a crossroad between doing Evil Dead 4 and this remake. And… well, Hollywood loves their freaking remakes. :/
I’m torn. The horror fan in me says, “No, I don’t want to see another bastardized “Re-imagining” of a cult classic. I should just skip it and act like it didn’t happen… but the SKC Reviewer in me can’t wait to tear it a new asshole!
Mmmmmmmmmmeh. I don’t know. The tongue gag was fresh. Just torn I guess. I’m a huge fan of the trilogy and this is just so different from those. Also , why do all modern horror movies have green tint!!!???!
