On the Shelves: DVD Releases for Sept 11, 2012
Some of the DVD releases this week.

Snow White and the Huntsman – I’m no fan of K-Stew. I’ve been watching and reviewing the Twilight series on my blog the last few years and she’s f’n terrible. Yes, the movies are also horribly written, but she is also terrible in them. Despite that, this movie looks pretty damn good. I have every intention of watching it, but I’ll cringe if at any point Thor hooks up with Bella.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 – The original TCM sequel by Tobe Hooper. This movie was completely insane and crazy. Almost a completely different movie in style and tone from the first one. For better or worse. I actually did a double take when I saw the box art because it looks like the cover for either the Platinum Dunes TCM remake or Saw.

Hammer House of Horror: The Complete Series – In 1980, Hammer Studios released a 13 episode horror anthology TV series on British television. It starred such luminaries as Peter Cushing, Denholm Elliot and Pierce Brosnan. I’m a huge Hammer fan, especially the Frankenstein and Dracula movies, and am looking forward to checking these out.

Jeepers Creepers – I really enjoyed the first half of this movie. The second half lost me a bit, but it still wound up being a pretty good movie. I have yet to watch the sequel.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space – A funny and weird movie. Not necessarily one of my favorites, but it has a cult following. And it’s hitting Blu-Ray.

Karate-Robo Zaborgar – How have I never heard of this? Karate-Robo Zaborgar: part motorcycle, part karate expert, ALL ROBOT. I need to be watching this RIGHT NOW.

Terra Nova – I watched the first three episodes of this show. The first double episode pilot was REALLY good. I loved the setup. Then the show sort of goes off the rails and devolves pretty quickly. I think the production lost one of its writers and/or show runners during the second episode and it shows.

The Score – This is a personal selection. I really love this movie. It’s a heist movie starring Robert DeNiro, Marlon Brando and Edward Norton? For some reason, people really didn’t like it, but I do. It’s great watching these guys play off each other, especially DeNiro and Norton.

IN THIS ISSUE: Strange Kid runs amok in 80s/90s TV series! Jason Edmiston, Matthew Allison, Drew Rausch, David DeGrand, Brent Engstrom...

IMO, the “Snow White” movie with Sigourney Weaver is WAY better. Maybe because she believes that her stepdaughter is the cause of all her problems and that voice in her head tells her to carry out numerous attempts on her life… http://youtu.be/KOlQ75fhWKE
