Monday Morning Videomania #9: Video Games Clash, Van Damme in ‘Mortal Kombat’ and A Really Creepy Dancing Pig
Old School vs. New School
Produced by the team over at Rocket Jump thanks to funding by Internet Explorer, Old School vs. New School is a fan made short that explores “What happens when old school games go face to face with new school characters?” The short answer is: it’s not bonding over cookies and milk. When pixelated video game icons from the past start invading the real world, heroes like Nathan Drake, Lara Croft, Master Chief and more unite to take a stand against “The Old School.”
Van Damme in Mortal Kombat: Bloodsport Edition
Despite his presence in Street Fighter: The Movie (or perhaps because of it) it’s surprising that Van Damme never managed to make it into the Mortal Kombat film. This fan made mash-up more than makes up for both films, though, starring the fighters of Bloodsport sound effects and graphics from the original Mortal Kombat game. Lemme tell you… you haven’t really seen Bloodsport until you’ve witnessed Van Damme take off his opponent’s head with a spinning roundhouse kick.
Le cochon danseur – The dancing pig
I don’t really know what this one is or how to describe it, suffice to say that it’s footage from a vintage short film from France called Le Cochon Danseur (The Dancing Pig) circa 1907. It’s also incredibly creepy as the “pig” is stripped naked, forced to dance before finally (and violently) trying to “tongue” the audience… this is the stuff nightmares are made of!
