Weird World of Webcomic: Brad McGinty’s ‘Battle Zoo’

Battle ZooWelcome to the Battle Zoo, a new webcomic by artist Bradwick McGinty that features two unlikely friends: “Tim, the bitter mid-level manager of a cat litter mine, and Manigan, your typical post-apocalyptic badass.” Stuck in a future ruled by animals, where death and destruction are an everyday occurrence, the duo must do their best to survive while not tearing each other apart.

Like much of McGinty’s work, Battle Zoo has a way of transporting you back in time (specifically the 90s) where ultraviolent, balls-out heroes filled the comic shelves and it was considered okay for kids to laugh at exploding organs while sucking back an ice cold Yoo-hoo. The art style, clearly inspired by classic comic books, is both vividly colored and well-paced while the aforementioned ultraviolence is worthy of comparison to watching a Mortal Kombat fatality.

New strips are scheduled every week, so be sure to soak in every once of nostalgia at
