Fan Art Friday: Adolfo Torino Nuñez’s Retro Comic Mash-ups (Poptages)

This week for Fan Art Friday I thought we’d take a trip… back to the future(!) courtesy of Adolfo Torino Nuñez‘s self-dubbed “poptage” art. Inspired by artists like Alex Ross, Jack Kirby and Tim Biskup (to name a few), Nuñez’s “poptages” are a fusion of present pop culture icons rendered with a classic comic book sensibility. In his latest series, the artist has actually gone a step further to combine fictional characters for some pretty cool crossovers!

Adventure Time - Retro

Futurama - Retro

Teenage Mutant Saiya Turtles

Hulkboy

Popeye Meets One Piece

Love the Adventure Time and Futurama ones! I don’t think Zoidberg ever said “Snu-Snu”, that was from the episode with the Amazonians. One Piece Popeye is pretty rad too.
