Nickelodeon Reveals New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’ Rap Theme

Another nugget of cartoon goodness coming from the fallout of this year’s San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), Nickelodeon unveiled the opening sequence for their brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. The theme song, which is a mix of the traditional theme and a rap, recalls memories of Vanilla Ice’s Ninja Rap from the feature film sequel… only, you know, better.

While the original TMNT opening still holds some fond Saturday morning memories, this new one isn’t too bad. It pays enough homage to Eastman and Laird’s vision, with a few nods to the 80s cartoon, while making things a bit fresher for a new generation of fans.

What say you – do you like the new opening? Hate it? Couldn’t care less?

Although I don’t care for the rap parts (although it’s not as annoying as I would have guessed), I LOVE the throwback elements. The ‘Heroes in a Halfshell’ is awesome, and that pose at the end is straight from issue #1 of the comics.

I’m looking forward to this show!
