‘Galactatron’ Music Video Makes First Contact

From the farthest reaches of space, the clubhouse recently managed to pick up this broadcast from indie musician, Galactatron (aka Owen Dennis). Titled (appropriately enough) First Contact, savvy viewers may pick up hints of 80s/90s nostalgia from films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Heavy Metal and Akira and they’d be right on. According to the artist,

[This music video] was very heavily inspired by my early 90′s childhood. It’s supposed to be similar to the VHS’s I saw when I was a kid. It took me 6 months to make and it’s all hand drawn with much of it drawn on paper and pencil first (including the satellite).

The entire album, available to stream on SoundCloud, carries out this narrative of aliens drawn to to Earth by radio waves. Upon arriving they meet a Chinese-American girl (Emily Wong) and and start touring the planet while attempting to communicate through music – it’s pretty awesome.
