The Top 5: Online Spots to Raise Some Halloween Havoc

As much as I would like to say that we are the ultimate one stop shop for Halloween greatness, the holiday is just too big for any one site to contain. In fact, there are a few of our friends and fellow bloggers that do it (dare I say) a little better than us. With that said I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite haunts during the month of October. There’s no way to name all of the fantastically fear-filled online destinations I travel to, but here are the Top 5 in no discernible order:

Jonathan Wojcik’s Bogleech Blog
Some of you may recall Jonathan Wojcik as the creator of The Fear Hole, which we spotlighted last year, but he is also a contributing artist/writer for as well as an avid fan of Halloween. The great thing about Wojcik’s articles are just how damn obscure they are… you’ll find everything from dog toys that are cooler than human toys to weird, handmade decorations like these little things.

Shawn Robare’s Branded in the 80s
A fellow 80s kid and nostalgia nut, Robare always goes full throttle during the month of October with fond memories that carry a specific theme every year. This year’s theme is Halloween Mask Madness and seems to be off to a good start with loads of vintage monster masks ads already up on the site and the promise of more to come.

Roger Barr’s I-Mockery
I-Mockery is a bit hard to navigate, but once you find your way through it’s an endless source of Halloween madness. Barr and his staff really cover the gamut from comic books to video games and beyond… they even had there very own Maniac Mansion style game built called Trick-or-Treat Adventure! How cool is that?!

Steve Sabellico’s Halloween Addict
AllHallowSteve LIVES for this time of the year. Although his site is open all year round, October is when things really kick into high gear and the posts start flying fast and furious with everything from classic cartoon monsters to statistics on which candy is the most popular in the entire United States. If it has ANYTHING to do with Halloween you can bet Halloween Addict’s got it covered.

Matt Caracappa’s X-E’s Halloween Countdown
A geek of the highest caliber, and a veritable whiz kid of 80s pop culture, Caracappa is a notoriously reclusive host but one that spares no expense when it comes to celebrating the major holidays from October to December. The highlight of this multi-month hooplah, however, is without a doubt Halloween. This year, Caracappa has introduced to his alter ego “Mad Matt” through a series of vlogs on Youtube.

For a much better list of blogs celebrating Halloween with us this year, be sure to check out John Rozum and Shawn Robare’s Countdown to Halloween. It’s a great archive of sites from all over that are collectively counting down the days to THE best holiday ever – a must see.

This article is part of the Countdown to Halloween blogathon, a month-long blogging marathon dedicated to honoring the Halloween season. For more information and a full list of participating sites, please visit

  • This is great. I am going to spread the word about this website and its contents all month long!

  • Feels good to be on the same list as I-mockery and X-E. I was fans of theirs before I even had bogleech!

    • You definitely bring a whole new level of awesome every year, Jon. I’m looking forward to what this year yields for the Bogleech. 😉

  • Excellent choices!

  • I gotta agree with Jonathan (whose blog I just discovered thanks to this post), it’s an honor to be on the same list as i-Mockery and X-Entertainment as those are the guys I was reading and being inspired by back in the day.
Also Shawn’s Branded and your SKC are my frequent stops in October and throughout the year so your stamp of approval has extra value in my eyes.

It’s great to be recognized by colleagues I like, admire and respect.
    Kudos to all.
See you on the other side.

  • Great choices. I’m looking forward to a great October!

  • You sir, are too kind. Thanks for the shout out and as always, right back atcha! Really looking forward to the second SKC Comix anthology!
