An all out sexy zombie bloodbath with chainsaws and glitter.
Normally, the promise of a scantily clad cheerleader wielding a chainsaw to a zombie meat and potatoes would be enough reason to warrant an instant recommendation, however, if the God-awful gameplay of Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers taught me anything it’s that sex may sell but it doesn’t guarantee a good (or even fun) gaming experience.
On the other hand, Lollipop Chainsaw has not one but THREE favors in its corner already: 1) Suda “Suda 51” Goichi (the man behind No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned) is serving as Creative Director on the project, 2) horror nut James Gunn (SLiTHeR, Super) is writing the script for the game and 3) Sound Designer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill, Shadows of the Damned) is providing the score/soundtrack. Not to mention there’s “a scantily clad cheerleader wielding a chainsaw to a zombie meat and potatoes.”
As its star, zombie slayer Juliet is every bit the digital vixen she appears to be with her “profile” revealing her favorite food to be strawberry lollipops while her pastimes (aside from killing zombies) are cheerleading at San Romero High School and karaoke. She also seems to be carrying around a severed head… did I happen to mention the “meat and potatoes bit” already?
Lollipop Chainsaw is the ‘un-deadly’ story of sweet and killer zombie hunter Juliet Starling and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. With her wickedly awesome chainsaw in hand, Juliet slices, dices and splits her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realizes the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill the chainsaw wielding cheerleader.
