While there have been a variety of amazing artists who have worked on the Conan franchise over the years – Frank Frazetta literally redefined the sword and sorcery genre with his depictions and Joe Jusko perpetuated the legend even further, there was another artist who ushered in a “new age” of Conan back in 2003… Cary Nord. Alongside writer Kurt Busiek, Nord was responsible for carrying the relaunched title (under the Dark Horse Comics banner) for 4 years from 2003 to 2007 and, much like the aforementioned artists, carved his own niche in pencil that is just as brutal and beautiful as anything Frazetta or Jusko ever painted.
