Celebrate Vampira’s Birthday with ‘The Happy Undertaker’

Malia Nurmi as Vampira

The Happy Undertaker presents Friday’s Fables is a weekly column based on The Happy Undertaker series of comics by artist Drazen Kozjan who has illustrated several children’s books including Diary of a Fairy Godmother and the Julia Gillian series. Strips premiere every week.

The Happy Undertaker celebrates today, the birthday of the one and only Vampira (Maila Nurmi), with an extended strip dedicated to the dark mistress of televised horror. Inspired by the work of cartoonist Charles Addams (The Addams Family), Vampira haunted TV screens all over the US in the 50s and early 60s as Hollywood’s premiere (and first) horror movie hostess. Here’s to you Vampira- may you continue to haunt us from beyond the veil!
